Tina Fey

I love Tina Fey, along with anyone possessing half a brain. I need to pick up Bossypants! This excerpt further inspires me to do so:

“First, Lord: No tattoos. May neither Chinese symbol for truth nor Winnie-the-Pooh holding the FSU logo stain her tender haunches. May she be Beautiful but not Damaged, for it’s the Damage that draws the creepy soccer coach’s eye, not the Beauty. When the Crystal Meth is offered, may she remember the parents who cut her grapes in half And stick with Beer. Guide her, protect her when crossing the street, stepping onto boats, swimming in the ocean, swimming in pools, walking near pools, standing on the subway platform, crossing 86th Street, stepping off of boats, using mall restrooms, getting on and off escalators, driving on country roads while arguing, leaning on large windows, walking in parking lots, riding Ferris wheels, roller-coasters, log flumes, or anything called “Hell Drop,” “Tower of Torture,” or “The Death Spiral Rock ‘N Zero G Roll featuring Aerosmith,” and standing on any kind of balcony ever, anywhere, at any age. Lead her away from Acting but not all the way to Finance. Something where she can make her own hours but still feel intellectually fulfilled and get outside sometimes And not have to wear high heels. What would that be, Lord? Architecture? Midwifery? Golf course design? I’m asking You, because if I knew, I’d be doing it, Youdammit. May she play the Drums to the fiery rhythm of her Own Heart with the sinewy strength of her Own Arms, so she need Not Lie With Drummers. Grant her a Rough Patch from twelve to seventeen.Let her draw horses and be interested in Barbies for much too long, For childhood is short – a Tiger Flower blooming Magenta for one day – And adulthood is long and dry-humping in cars will wait. O Lord, break the Internet forever, that she may be spared the misspelled invective of her peers And the online marketing campaign for Rape Hostel V: Girls Just Wanna Get Stabbed. And when she one day turns on me and calls me a Bitch in front of Hollister, Give me the strength, Lord, to yank her directly into a cab in front of her friends, For I will not have that Shit. I will not have it. And should she choose to be a Mother one day, be my eyes, Lord, that I may see her, lying on a blanket on the floor at 4:50 A.M., all-at-once exhausted, bored, and in love with the little creature whose poop is leaking up its back. “My mother did this for me once,” she will realize as she cleans feces off her baby’s neck. “My mother did this for me.” And the delayed gratitude will wash over her as it does each generation and she will make a Mental Note to call me. And she will forget. But I’ll know, because I peeped it with Your God eyes. Amen.” (via)

The bit about Hollister had me on the floor. I remember putting Babs through that hormone-driven hell many a time. I've moved on to bigger and better things since then. Now I call her a "B" outside of Anthropologie. I swear I'm 22.

New iPhone!

I finally got an iPhone. After ample pleeding and begging, my ever-giving mother allowed me to use her phone upgrade. What a kind soul.

But now that I have an iPhone, I need to decide what cover to get. Obviously, the last thing on my mind is how well said cover protects my phone. Blurg. All that really matters is if it's cute. I find myself on a 'girly' kick lately and, appropriately, have had my eye on this gem from Kate Spade.... (but would it be too much with my white phone?)...

but, alas, I also have a well-documented obsession with elephants...

and this pouch is so darn cute AND it's orange...

Hmph, decisions, decisions.

Sadly, with summer upon me and over a month until I start my job (career?), this is the most pressing matter in my life.

xoxo

Been reading this tumblr nonstop the past few days. The author, a widow, has such a strong voice in her writing and it's hard not to continually scroll down, wanting more. The subject matter is heartbreaking, but the underlying message is touching: appreciate the love in your life everyday.

Spring!

Spring Break is here (well, almost)! Nothing gets me down more than short, grey days and cold weather, but the sun is finally shining after 6 pm so thing are looking up. I can't wait until I am able to skip out the door sans a jacket...though I still do that now, even when it's freezing out. Hopeful thinking, I guess. Anyways, looking forward to even longer days, green leaves, colorful garb and warm weather!

Big Sweaters

"Let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance."

I just skyped with my little sister (holla, Kari) and we were talking about her infamous "Duck Sweater". It's from Anthropologie, and we both wanted it from the moment we laid eyes on its oversized beauty. There are so many great sweaters out there, and they can be worn so many different ways. Kari and I tend to wear them like typical college students: avec leggings, a huge scarf and boots. I'm so enamored, I almost don't want winter to end. Almost.

Bruno Mars Killed it

I actually watched the Grammy's last night...and I fell in love with Bruno Mars. And this is why (sorry for the advertisement, this is the only video I could find that wasn't recorded by some chump in their living room):

Cello Love

This song won't leave my head. Keeps me in a good mood even when I'm trying to write a 5-page paper about Auditing. Joy!

V-Day Yummies

I can't stop thinking of all the desserts I want to make, and more importantly, eat. These Martha Stewart cupcakes are adorable...and probably just as delectable...

Tiffany's Teardrops

Chandeliers at Tiffany & Co. on Wall St. Like I needed another reason to love Tiffany's...

Fur, Fur, Everywhere

via unknown

There seems to be a fur invasion these days, and I'm not complaining. I love the lux look of a fur vest or jacket (though I could never pull it off personally). A heavy, faux-fur rug draped over a bed or couch adds instant comfort.

Weird?

While we're on the topic of Anthropologie...

I want this Lobster Rug. Now.

Elephants

If I could be any animal, I would be an elephant. I've been trying to avoid Anthropologie; it makes me upset to ogle at all these things that can't be mine. However, I couldn't resist these. In my future apartment (staying optimistic), I want an elephant wall. Strange, but I think it has potential. Maybe...

Great Kitchen

Interesting mix of modern and rustic elements. I think I'm a little TOO obsessed with those lights.
